Mad Men Continues to Drive Me Mad
Season Finale Observations
Random, Rambling Musings {a.k.a. Stream of Consciousness} of a Mad Men Fan{atic}
Don reminds me of the Phoenix that rises from the ashes.
PPL can't get one up on Don.
"Fire Us." - He is creative.
Loved the scenes with Pete and Peggy and Lane Pryce and Harry Crane.
Don's secretary: "We've been robbed."
Did anyone notice that the boss in London is Mr. Sheffield from The Nanny?
****************
Don and Betts are broken.
but
Don and Roger are fixed.

Don knows all about Henry Francis thanks to Roger.
Henry wants to support Betty sans alimony/child support?
****************
How ironic that Don's personal life is a failure,
but his professional life has been reborn.
****************
Can Betty Draper be colder to her children?
January Jones portrays Betty so well, that it is hard for me
to envision her as a warm, caring, loving person.
Don showed so much warm love for Sally and Bobby tonight.
And Betty sits there like an ice cube.
Is Don realizing the error of his ways?
Has he come to terms with Dick Whitman?
He won't fight Betty over the divorce.
He's not the groveling type, is he?
Is it true? No more Don and Betty Draper on the show Mad Men?
She seemed emotional in that last conversation. Agree?
What mother leaves her children for 6 weeks to go to Reno so she can get a divorce?
****************
I like Trudy.
Foreshadowing with Pete and Peggy at the same table?
****************
YAY, Joannie is back!
****************
Did anyone notice the body language between Betty and Henry on the plane to Reno?
I thought it noteworthy that there was no interaction.
Seems to me that he was rather inattentive to her,
unlike his fawning over her prior to his Victory.
Or maybe I'm making too much of that last scene.
Don looked at the new "office" with the pride.
The new ad agency is a group of people who respect one another.
****************
In 1963, I was 13 years old, a little older than Sally.
But I felt like I was seeing myself,
because I swear I had that blouse and sweater she was wearing tonight! haha
****************
So, Mad Men fans we wait for Season 4.
Matt Weiner, you're killing me!! ;-)

Let me know what YOU think!
I always love to read your perspectives on the show.
You always open new avenues of interpretation for me!
Take this quiz and see which MadMan you are!

20 Priceless Preppy Remarks!:
I love this show... I watched it but I was hesitant the whole time because I didn't want it to end. There is always such a long break between seasons.
I hated the divorce scenes, but felt the show was so balanced by the work scenes. Roger Sterling cracked me up tonight. He had some great one-liners. And Cooper... I love him.
And best of all...Joan is back!
After hearing your rave reviews of this show, I got the season 1 and 2 DVDs and I am catching up--so far, I love it!
Just popping over to say "hello"! Hope your Monday is off to an excellent start! XO
I cannot wait a whole year to see more!
At the end Don was moving into the new apartment, Betty was on her way to Reno, yet the 2 older kids where still at home with the maid??? Is she staying with them for 6 weeks? Why isn't Don staying there.
I love how Joan took charge and even found Don an apartment.
I think Betty is going to regret her decision and go back to Don...
Oh friend! There isn't enough room in this comment section to tell you how I feel! Must email I suppose! So, what did you think of my predictions? I'm going to go MAD!
Favorite line of the night:
Roger, "Get me a drink."
Peggy, "No."
oh and Cooper too, "we'll have to lock you in the closet."
Well, well, well, quite an ending. Nothing like ending on optimism. I absolutely love Roger's wit and was happy to see Bert more involved again. Call the other man's spouse a harlot and you can still be partners. Men. Gotta love 'em.
It was so energizing to see how everyone's unique talent was recognized and utilized. I do see grave illness for Don, however. They have alluded to this more than once by camera shots when he is coughing. He's got to give it up! Let's hope in season 4 he sees the light.
P.S. You better add me to your Mad Men fan club list, missy! ;)
Thank you for your kind words friend. It's a roller coaster of emotions around here at CCL. All the joys of expecting our first grand baby and the holidays upon us, and all the fears of the evil C interfering with my life. Leave me alone evil C, now is NOT a good time!
I love the show but I feel so lost. I'm going to put the 1st 2 seasons on my list for Santa. xoxo

Ab-so-lute-ly faaahhhhbulous post Miss ATS&P! As the evening wore on I kept telling the Consort that if Betty dumped Don then he'd be heading over to see you for some consoling. And other things. (Gasp!)
We are worried about Sally becoming overly plump and Betty being-more-than-cold to her next season! (And then she'll be anorexic by the end of the season.)
The whole Henry-Betty thing is just beyond troubling, but Don & Roger being pals again is excellent. Just glorious.
Smiles to you,
tp
I have never seen Mad Men, but I love the fashion! How adorable are their dresses?
xoxo
I haven't watched Mad Men either, but Mr. Lipstick likes it. I love all the fashion that everyone is blogging about and I think I am going to have to do some catching up on this show!
Wow. Love it. I didn't see the last episode yet, but you have me so psyched to watch it.
Such a great show and your reviews are SUPER!
What a great recap!!!!
my thoughts exactly. it was WONDERFUL season finale!!
I love Mad Men! Bought season one and two and then caught up on season three on a Sat marathon. I hated to see it end. Loved having Joan back and such an interesting new direction. Add me to the fan club!

I was going to do one of these, but I'll share my two biggest observations here. Don's greatest fear in revealing his secret to Betty was that she would reject him. And she did.
The whole Henry/Betty thing is so odd in that they had only met at a party (obviously he was attracted, she's beautiful), they worked together briefly and flirted, and now he wants to marry her? Looks like another person who just wants her as arm candy and doesn't know a thing about her. But really, what does she know about herself?
Very interesting.....
And I loved the group they put together for the new agency. I see Joan moving beyond "secretary and office manager" once changing times and circumstances make everyong realize how smart and talented she is. The army is a good way of getting rid of the dr. hubby, too.
Oh my GOSH...the quiz says that I'm Betty Draper. YIKES! Anyhow, did you see that January Jones is going to be hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend? I'm DVRing it.
WOW! What a show! I couldn't belive it! Are they serious...a whole year? the seaon is so short? Do tell me it's less than that!
Don: Kudos professionally! Right on. Making amends with Roger was fab! Taking the right people along...superb! Don is sick. It's coming.
I suspect a scene with Teacher (she'll be back) and Bets in hospital. he loves loves loves those kids.
Bets: A nut! Has no idea what she wants. Miserable. Wants total attention, all about her. Surprise because Henry James is not sincere. This is a game. He's in politics, far more involved than Don's career. henry will never be there. Whatver he wants to run for, he wants Bets there to look good. She'll figure out the hard way.
Roger: Hilarious. Great one liners. He will get back with Joannie for sure. A great team!
Joannie: Smart! Has it so togeher. She'll be back with Roger and will get the job she wants this time!
Peggy: Love her. Grew so much! Love her comment to Roger! Stood up to Don and Roger in one show!
Now about Pete...that will come to.
Trudy: Watch out! She will step on anyone that gets in her way and Pete's way. She will be the pirahhna!
Pete: Weak as anything.
I loved the episode. It was epic. I either said "finally" or "hahaha" or "noooo"
Can't wait for the new season. I'm sure we'll have to wait until next August for it, too...
